Dream Car

is a car version of La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela's Dream House: Sound and Light Environment

A car is a kind of drone environment. The sound of wind and the hum of the engine have played a significant role in shaping popular music, which is often meant to be heard in cars.

I used La Monte Young and Marian Zazeela's drone-based sound installation, the Dream House, as a contact point between drones and cars.

Dream Car is also a response to La Monte Young's hesitancy to license his work for distribution. The Dream Car is a compressed bootleg version of the Dream House: it is mobile and shareable, but fails to reproduce the fidelity and atmosphere of the original.

Dream Car was first shown at Foo Fest 2009 in Providence, RI. Installation support: Megan Elias.

Dream Car was shown again at Proteus Gowanus as part of their 2009 TRANSPORT theme on October 10, 2009.
